Objectives of the Teleseminar

• Development of student skills in international tele-collaboration based on the Internet (workstation videoconferencing, application sharing, Web servers, email) in the context of an existing student exchange program



• Development of the scientific and cultural exchanges between the University of Mannheim and the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis by means of collaborative work of the students and the teaching staff of the two universities



• Development of the industry-university relationships between the two organizing universities and a leading company of the new information society.

Organizational Structure and Program:

The students will learn how to build e-commerce applications based on modern software development tools, the Internet and Web communication architectures and protocols. The participation of a partner from industry ensures that the topics and methods are of practical relevance. Topics to be taught and discussed are:

• Networks: communication protocols, firewalls
• E-Commerice: architecture, platforms, electronic payment
• Security: public key infrastructure for authentication, integrity and data security, watermarking
• Database architectures and transaction management
• Product examples
