Installation

Installation using the setup tool

• Unpack the archive containing sdp-launch into a temporary directory (e.g. mkdir ~/tmp; mv sdp-launch.v0.95.Solaris.tgz ~/tmp; cd ~/tmp; tar -xzf sdp-launch.v0.95.Solaris.tgz).
• Execute setup application and follow the instructions.

Manual Installation

• Unpack the archive containing sdp-launch into a temporary directory (e.g. mkdir ~/tmp; mv sdp-launch.v0.95.Solaris.tgz ~/tmp; cd ~/tmp; tar -xzf sdp-launch.v0.95.Solaris.tgz).
• Create the target directory where you wish to install sdp-launch (e.g. mkdir ~/mbone) and a bin and a man directory within the target directory (e.g. mkdir ~/mbone/bin; mkdir ~/mbone/man).
• If you want to install the sdp-launch without installing the mbone tools, copy README.html, sdp-launch and sdp-lnch.cfg to the bin directory (e.g. cp README.html sdp-launch sdp-lnch.cfg ~/mbone/bin/). Please skip the next two steps.
• Otherwise copy README.html, sdp-launch, sdp-lnch.cfg, README.vat, vat, README.vic, histtolut and vic into the bin directory (e.g. cp README.html sdp-launch sdp-lnch.cfg README.vat vat README.vic histtolut vic ~/mbone/bin/). On some platforms, the histtolut file is not required.
• Copy vat.1 and vic.1 to the man directory (e.g. cp vat.1 vic.1 ~/mbone/man)
• Now, an entry for the mime-type application/x-sdp must created in your .mime.types and .mailcap file. Please verify that these files don't contain another entry for application/x-sdp!
  Append the following lines to your .mime.types file:

              #mime type entry required for sdp-launch
  	    type=application/x-sdp  \
  	    desc="SDP"  \
  	    exts="sdp" 

  Append the following lines to your .mailcap file:

              #mailcap entry required for sdp-launch
  	    application/x-sdp;sdp-launch %s 

• The bin directory must be added to your system PATH. If you are using a bash-style shell, you may append the following line to your .profile:

              PATH=$HOME/mbone/bin:$PATH
  	    export PATH

• Finally, the Web-Browser must be restarted to activate changes made during the installation.
